Here you will find more information on the different modalities
of massage in which I am trained, as well as the general benefits of massage.
NeuroMuscular Therapy: Neuromuscular therapy uses static pressure applied to the skin with the aim of stimulating specific areas of
skeletal muscle. It is a comprehensive system of soft tissue manipulation that creates balance of the central
nervous system (brain, spinal cord and nerves) with the structure and form of the musculoskeletal system (skeleton and muscle
of the body).
Trigger Point Therapy:
Trigger points can occur when nerves fire impulses at a rapid speed into an area of the body,
inhibiting proper blood flow and often leading to pain and discomfort. Pressure is applied to tender muscle tissue in order to relieve pain and dysfunction.
MyoFascial Release: Provides sustained pressure into myofascial restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion.
Changes caused in the fascial system can influence comfort and the functioning of your body. The fascia can exert excessive
pressure producing pain or restriction of motion, affecting our flexibility and stability. MyoFascial Release
restores the fascia to its normal, relaxed configuration.
Lomi Lomi: An ancient Hawiian style
of massage which combines the use of prayer (pule), breath (ha), and energy
(mana) with a variety of massage strokes to release areas of congestion in the body. Lomi Lomi improves physical and athletic
performance through the rhythmic application of thumbs, knuckles, forearms and elbows to specific areas of tension.
Sports Massage Therapy: A way of applying massage for the specific benefit of all sports and exercise participants. It can also be
used to benefit those of a less sporty persuasion as it focuses on the individual needs of the client, with massages being
tailored to positively enhance one’s ability to perform either on a daily basis in the home and workplace or in a sporting
arena.
